Wonderful game - as far as I have reached! How I learned about it? First, I learned about Something Amiss from pointnclickgames.com. I registered for the Something Amiss mailing list, eager to get the newest version. Today, I got an announcement about WMYT. That really saved my day (and the next day, as I have not finished it yet)! B. M. Karlsson, Iceland Addition, May 6th: Finished! Excellent game. The ending..... well, let's hope that means there will be a sequel.

Thanks to Iceland! I feel honored to have entertained you a little bit :) I would have loved to be on the release party with you Greg! And also would have been excited to meet your guests, especially Tucker! BTW, I ordered your book a couple of days ago from amazon! can't wait to read Something Amiss! :o

Release Party
Thanks for the book buy, Matt. The release party was good fun. Greg had ceremonial Dr. Peppers on hand, and we all got so sucked into WMYT that we played through in one sitting. The whole crowd was gathered around the screen giving suggestions on what to do next. (I gave a hint about that damn whisky bottle.) Playing the game reminded me of a movie premier; folks laughing at all the right moments and getting creeped out by the villian. Your masterpiece was very well recieved! We tried to Skype you but just got some German operator and strange busy signals. It was 1am in Germany though so it was probably best we didn't wake you up!

Good grief... the Lassie website traffic surpassed it's past year's average by 1000% on Saturday, then 3200% on Sunday!!!! What happened? You'd think there was some hot content up there or something!

Also, I just checked my web hosting admin for a specific count on file usages. The numbers thus far (2 days post-release): Windows version downloads: 1727 Mac version downloads: 238 Also, I've now consumed 53% of my bandwidth in two days (although it appears I have a 100GB cap. Hmm, time for new hosting!). Tucker, could I take you up on your offer to co-host through this initial storm? I'm gonna have to pull the windows version soon or the Lassie website is going to go down for the rest of the month. Or, does anyone know of a free file hosting service?!?!?!

I'm downloading it, I know its going to be amazing! -Todd

Oh gosh... this is painful. I swapped the Windows version over to a free file hoster this afternoon to alleviate strain on the Lassie server. That bought us 50GB of free bandwidth. I've kept that file manager open in a browser window all afternoon and have periodically refreshed to watch the transfer meter climb. We've used up 6.4 GB over the course of 3 hours now, which I figure is about another 215 downloads. Sheesh, the world is gobbling up WMYT bandwidth like popcorn. Well Matt, the floodgates are open...

The Buzz
Here's a particularly active forum if you want to see what people are saying about the game. It's fun to see what puzzles give people the most trouble.

Playing the game reminded me of a movie premier; folks laughing at all the right moments and getting creeped out by the villian. Your masterpiece was very well recieved! I was surely on the wrong continent that evening. Sheesh, the world is gobbling up WMYT bandwidth like popcorn. Well Matt, the floodgates are open... More than 1700 downloads!? I hope this isn't too much trouble for you, Greg! If everyone payed 1 dollar .... no wait. It's freeware. :) From some mails and a strange forum I got mostly postive critiques. A fair amount of them hates the ending. :) To be honest I hate it too ... just for being so unkind of course (when I played it again I got a stomach ache from watching it ... It's really disappointing :D on purpose.) I don't like to go into forums so much ... except this one of course. Everyone has strange problems and never considers it might easily be solved by reading the manual or being a little less in a hurry. :?

...I completed it! ...I'm guessing there's going to be a sequel as the end was a sort of cliff hanger... Great Game Matt! The Ending was also amazing!

Ending
I liked the ending too. It works with the creepy tone of the whole game - all the ravens and storm clouds. As with any artistic endeavor, you're going to get some debate on that. Can't please everyone.

I really like the ending. Incidentally, it's MUCH better without that original line of text that you'd had there... you know which one. Now it wallops the player alongside the head with a left hook and doesn't apologize for it, like it's proud that it has a secret to tell and isn't willing to share. I like it, it's got spunk. I know Dina really liked it too... she had a pretty good reaction with a little gasp.

LOL, I just scanned that forum that Tucker linked to... I particularly like this snippit of insight =) 10) in the place with a crow there will be a man, now. Speak with him. He'll give you a can of Dr.Pepper. That's me... just "a man" :D

JohnGreenArt- 05-08-2007

He's more machine now than man.
