Water Animation
Hi there, I wondered if one of you guys is good at animating water - cartoonlike animation as it is used in cmi (esp. the intro sequence) ... i guess it takes just a couple of frames to get a good vector waterloop, but still - if i want someting like this i guess i need help ... John, your ND-demo has such animation in the end... but that would be a little too "nervous"-looking for my room ... but technically it's the same. Did you just do it freestyle, do you have a hint for me? Thanks in Advance :)

I just searched around for video loops of water that I liked. Then I exported from Quicktime the loop into frames (whatever frame rate you want). Then I opened one of them in Photoshop and played around with the contrast, hue, etc, to get the color and number of colors I wanted (I think "posterize" is one of those effects that works well to get a cartoony look). I made an action recording of what I did, then did a batch perform of that action on all the frames. Then, I imported the frames into Flash, did a "trace bitmap" on each one, and made the animation a movieclip. Let me know what you're looking for and I might have something that would fit, I found a lot of water reference. If you want, send me a screenshot of the room. And yes, I'm saying that because I really just want to see another screenshot of your game. ;)

:o Hey John, first of all, thanks for the fast answer! That really sounds good - I'll send you a message via email later. Including a screenshot - But I guess I'll alter it a little bit so you can still be surprised when you play the game - or maybe not... I'll think about it. Anyway! Your help is much appreciated!!
