Hi there, I realise this is an older thread, but it seems to make the most sense for my question, which is: Is there anyone out there who can tell me what drawing tablet to get? Sorry, I'll be a bit more specific... :) I'm hoping to use it for colouring in backgrounds and characters (Gimp and Artweaver), 2D animation (software like Pencil and Synfig Studio) and perhaps 3D modelling (Blender), although that one isn't a priority... :) Colouring in backgrounds is my biggest problem, my only other option would be to colour them in by hand and scan them in. Trouble is I don't really have much of an eye for colour to begin with, so as soon as I made a mistake I would have to start over again, making it even more time-consuming than it normally is. If only paper came with an "undo" option... I've been doing some "research" myself already and I've narrowed it down to a Wacom Volito or Graphire, the latter coming in two different sizes, although ultimately it will be my wallet that has the final say... The problem is that I've never worked with a drawing tablet before, so I don't know what to expect. Does it take a lot of getting used to when you normally only ever draw on paper? How do all you Lassie users colour in your backgrounds? If any of you use a drawing tablet, would you please post a comment, and tell me what kind and size (they don't HAVE to be Wacom of course...) you used and perhaps add a link to some screenshots, so I would be able to see what results CAN be achieved with it? <grin> I'm not expecting a drawing tablet to make me a "great artist" overnight, but it should be a lot easier to get reasonable results with than with a mouse, and believe me: I HAVE tried... :) I'd be more than grateful for any help, so I hope you'll all be flooding this thread with advice soon...

I got myself an A4 oversize Wacom, and im VERY happy with it. Takes a bit of getting used to but on the whole it is very intuitive and natural. Cant remember how much it cost me, but to be honest I would have been better getting a smaller one anyway, an A5 would probably have been a lot easier to work with (for what im doing anyway).

Thanks Fatbuoy, but what type of Wacom is that exactly?

Intuos 3

Thanks mate, I'll look in to it :)

That Intuos3 sure looks good, unfortunately my wallet said "Ouch!"... :) But thanks anyway, perhaps in a couple of years...
