Something Amiss Hi fellow developers,
I've posted the first chapter in my new game, Something Amiss.
www.somethingamiss.com
Please give it a try and let me know your thoughts and any bugs you encounter while playing. Thanks again to Greg for creating this awesome game engine. And to Paranoia for answering some tech questions.
I've had a lot of fun with this creation process.

nice one adventureman
love the graphics and the character, i didn't find it to easy or frustratingly difficult, a nice balance IMO
great bit of animation at the beginning :D
if i had any comments it would probably the walk speed and the intro text was a bit quick but otherwise it looks great and i can't wait to see the next chapter
is the character created with Poser?
wanna job? lol

Nice. It took me about 3mins to complete, but it was a nice demo/opener to get a player used to the controls and setting the atmosphere in the game.
When I read Paranoia's comment about there being poser graphics I was a bit apprehensive, but as soon as the opening animation started it was obvious that you had spent some time on the graphics. Certainly seems like you know your way around 3DS Max or something. They look great and work really well. Nice :)

Feedback Thanks for the feedback,
It's invaluable in getting a handle on the game. I did use Poser for the basic character creation and then tweaked it in Flash. Also used Shade and a healthy dose of Photoshop for this chapter. Was thinking about using Vue for the the chapters that take place outside, involving jungle plants - but I don't have much experience with that software. (Can anyone vouch for it?) My background's in filmmaking, not graphic design so I've got a steep learning curve.
I see Flash adventure games as a great new storytelling medium. Finally you don't need a gazillion dollars and an aerospace degree to tell an interactive story.

I havn't used Vue, used Bryce though. Go to www.3dshop.com (especialy the environment section) for examples of what some people have done with those sort of programs, you might get some ideas?

Just took a look at some of the images on www.3DShop.com and a lot of the better ones mention a program called terragen. I presume its something along the lines of Bryce and Vue d'Esprit, but it seems to give far better results. Might not be as easy to use though... I haven't tried so have no idea.
I think you can get it free on http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/

Terrain Generating Software Thanks for the links, guys. Amazing how much affordable and/or really cheap software there is for landscape design now.

From where can I get a wire to connect to the hard drive?

Game Hints - power cables Highlight the space below each hint to read it...
Hint 1: Often in these high tech rooms they run power cables beneath the floortiles. Hint 2: There's a loose tile in the center of the MRI room. But you'll need something to pry it open with.Hint 3:The grate covering the ventilation shaft should give you enough leverage for the task.
Good luck!

It's got a great style about it. Looking forward to more.

Next Chapter I'm still in the pre-production stages of chapter two. With time, I'm hoping my LASSIE skills improve enough to allow for the chapters to become longer and incrementally more challenging.
Glad you liked the start, John. That means a lot to me. I've been in awe of your zombie epic for some time.

intro is super nice. the verb disc looks great (awesome little anims in there). i did find a little bug... if you're in the center of the room, and you select look from the verb disc on the MRI machine, she walks to it, the dialog cues, and then the char slides about a step... not to sure if there is a way around that... but nonethless, nice job mate
keep us posted

GEEZE... wow!! I love seeing stuff created with Lassie, and lemme tell you, you blind-sided me with this! I'm out of touch for a month on another continent and finally come back to check the posts, and... BAM. Adventureman has created a beautiful new demo! Animation is fantastic, graphics are sleek, the execution is exceptional. One question: are you missing walk cycles or is that an engine bug where the character walk animation stops before the sprite stops moving?
Anyway, awesome. Thanks for the Christmas surprise!
