just out of interest do we still publish an AS in Flash that Shepherd produces? Here's the concept: Shepherd is going to be running as a tool panel WITHIN the Flash Authoring Environment. Kind of like the flash color picker or actions panel... this will just have a full set of game controls. Anyway, this tool panel is ultimately configuring a Flash movie that is that "_data.fla" that you currently have to re-publish every time. That FLA will be tweaked within Flash by Shepherd, and can be published directly out. AND, since Shepherd has access to the entire Flash application methodology, you'll be able to use Shepherd to tell that movie to publish. So, the ultimate goal is --literally-- single button project publishing. Sweet, hu? Course, now I've just gotta figure out how to do that.

sound good, it'll be great having it all in one place

I just got Adobe CS3 (go me!) and looks like the new flash has a new version of Actionscript (3.0), is that going to cause problems with Lassie/Shepherd?

Dunno... I can't develop my hobby projects at the same rate as Adobe is updating Flash! We have yet to get a copy of CS3 at work here, so I haven't gotten into AS3 yet. However, from what I've seen it looks like it's more of the same (as AS2) with some new compliance implementation. They're slowing evolving ActionScript away from simple, verbose commands intended for designers and non-programmer, and going back toward rigid C++ methodologies. Their backward compatibility is always outstanding though. So... don't panic. I'm not going to release something that doesn't work. However, I emphasis again that I'm working SLOWLY. Don't be looking for Shepherd anytime soon. I'm continuing to work on it on and off, so progress is being made (just in small quantities). I do have to admit that the dreaded female factor is now slowing down my coding hobbies. Sorry guys ;-)

This sounds like it will be fantastic! Sounds like your problem is very similar to my Boss Factor + Female Factor + Beer Factor taking up too much hobby time :?

Sounds like your problem is very similar to my Boss Factor + Female Factor + Beer Factor taking up too much hobby time :? Thankfully, no... boss and beer are not problematic for me. Gym, yoga, juggling clubs, and volunteering have traditionally been my time consumptions.
