Wes, actually I used to read "Sean Crusty Towel" ... I knew it was wrong, but somehow that wrong version is burnt into my subconsciousness. Thats what i used to see too

SeanCyrusTowel- 01-15-2008

Ah... thanks Greg. Boy it was easy to befriend the admin.... start talking about obscure games (like Monkey Island)... Matt and Nige, I have a few friends who have told me the exact same thing.... oh well.... at least it doesn't bother me :-)

PinkFrangipani- 01-22-2008

Hello forum, Pet Peeves is complete (or very nearly), and only three days late at that! :P I'll let you Lassie forum inhabitants have the honor of playing the very first gamma -*test*-('") of Pet Peeves. The game has NOT been officially released yet, it's the very first board I'm posting it to. Once I'm really 300% sure the last bug has been ironed to death, I'll do a louder shout. Please be gentle, it's my very first game, hope you like it :) I'll be glad to read any kind of critics. gotoAndPlay - have fun!

NigeC- 01-22-2008

I saw it was live earlier on  the game is great! i'm amazed you managed to do so much in such a short space of time, well done 8) theres only a couple of things to nit pick on When talking the characters kinda jump up a few pixels the charaacter walks up the book case in the library, and text is off the screen at the back wall of the library Oh i ended up with two sheep manuals, i can't recall where i got the original, maybe the sprite is active after the book is added to inventory? the save option worked for me, i played it earlier to the point i found out i needed cash Love the game and the story, well done

PinkFrangipani- 01-22-2008

Thanks for the kind words! I have to say I nearly worked myself to death to meet the deadline...! Library walking: Haven't found the sprite reponsible for the walking up there yet - I've been working with like 7340 sprite phases (that was before I read the TIMe manual properly! LOL) so I was just hoping nobody would go up there - rats, eh? What can I do about the off-screen text? Resize the walking area box? But then he won't reach the bookshelves anymore... And oops, about the books. Can you tell me what happens when Antoine uses the two books you have? (the book in the inventory changes twice that's why...but is supposed to be replaced, not duplicated :D) And yay, saving works! What doesn't work ist Menu > New game. You have to clear your cache and reload the page for that. Thanks for playing!

NigeC- 01-22-2008

I just tried again and never got the second book lol you'd probably get away moving his blue points down a little bit and the walk area so he's not so close.. actually i thought greg had stopped the text running off screen, i'll have a look one othe thing, after you cure the snake (very funny btw  ), the fox is in the waiting room again and if you talk to him he runs through the original convo Debugging is the worst part.. when you/me/anyone does a game you go into auto pilot and run through the game as you intend it to be played, Joe public doesn't! I must of -*test*-('")ed 2DA 50 times and the first person to play it, broke it and it was very dramatic lol, my whole inventory went insane and added stuff it shouldn't of, i had the game in bits and couldn't fix it, in the end i'd used the wrong player, the one from 3DA which was built with the first Lassie AS

PinkFrangipani- 01-22-2008

Found the culprit in the library: It was a stray walking area box I had overseen! As for the fox in the waitingroom: Huh? After you cure the snake, going into the waitingroom should be disabled until the snake *slithers away*. And then only the nice Sheep should be left. I'll have a check tomorrow...too shattered to look at Lassie any more now LOL. I think I avoid -*test*-('")ing too unusual stuff intentionally because that just uncovers too many bugs I have no idea how to fix cause I'm lost in a sea of sprite phases now! See why you always should write down what you script! P.S. In horizontal view, speech text stays on screen. I'll move Antoine down a bit tho. Oh and the book: Maybe you were playing yesterday? It was still buggy then ;) P.S.2 I gather you've played till the end? May I ask how long it took you? And did you consider the game to be too easy?

NigeC- 01-22-2008

Yes i played it to the end.. i played it over two sittings, maybe 45 mins in total? I wasn't really watching the clock lol Maybe our friend gives to much away, it would be a lot harder with a few hints took out, but i don't think people would lose interest or struggle

adventureman- 01-22-2008
Nice Game
Great concept. It's ripe for adventure game possibilities. Haven't played very long yet, but so far I like your sense of humor. One thing I'd like to see more of is responses when I try something that doesn't work. It's always good to reward wrong moves so players don't feel frustrated at their lack of progress.

PinkFrangipani- 01-23-2008

Aaah, yes. Thank you, adventureman. The lacking sprite reactions. I'm aware that they're the one great hole in the game...it's something I just did not have the time to develop. I had to learn Lassie and create this game in less than a month. I'm considering building in more before the final release, but I can't stand to look at Lassie right now anymore LOL. I'll decide in a few days. Nige: I guess it's also the lacking sprite reactions that make our 'friend' give so many hints. Next to you die-hard adventure fans, the target audience for this production also includes people who have never played an adventure game before (many co-students, friends and family), so they wouldn't feel too lost. Thank you for your responses!

Hey im just playing the game now (and really liking it), but iv hit a few bugs... When I first started playing, the scene with Antoine on the bike came up, and then the options panel came up... i clicked resume, and it did, then it paused again, so I hit resume again, and it went back to the scene, but just kept playing the bike animation without any text... had to restart in the end. When I got into the waiting room, I took the snake first. Everyting seemed to work fine there (loved the way you did the phone convo btw, and the xray), but because I didnt have what he needed I sent him back to the waiting room. I then spoke to the fox, and asked him to just help me out... he said he would, but didnt move... is that supposed to happen? Anyway, the real problem is that I then spoke to the sheep, who just said 'grr...' and then disappeared! I could still see it's label when my mouse rolled over where he was, so I went into the surgery and back out again to see if it would help but now he's gone completely, even if I scroll over where he was theres nothing. So i'll have to restart again. Really liking the game though, theres a lot of nice wee touches, I thought the sound and music in the intro was very nicely done! :D

PinkFrangipani- 01-24-2008

Thanks for -*test*-('")ing fatbuoy! I'm sorry you've hit so many bugs. No idea what's up with the motorbike scene. I've never had any problems there before, just be careful not to hit Ctrl or F5 while he's on the bike or Resume will not work. The vanishing sheep is fixed now  What's up with the fox? After the convo in the treatment room, you change back automatically to the waitingroom - talk to the fox there he will help you.

NigeC- 01-24-2008

I had the bike scene go straight to credits.. but i had restarted a saved game that had saved at the credits somehow  I'll have another go shortly :D

Matt Kempke- 01-27-2008

Hi there! I just finished your game. It was fun! Especially since i like the "Little Prince" :) I think most technical "bugs" have already been adressed above ... Thanks! Matt

PinkFrangipani- 01-27-2008

Thank you for playing Matt! I'm glad you like it :) I hope you haven't encountered any major bugs such as vanishing sheep and the like... I'm taking a break right now, still waiting for some missing tracks from the composer, then I'll be doing some more tweaking and hope to officially release the game in one month. Everyone is still welcome to throw any kind of critic at me ;) I'll keep you posted! PS Matt: Don't worry, you may curse in German as often as you like - it doesn't bother me at all! I curse my wretched computer every day lol  Not that you seem like one to curse much. BTW I just downloaded WMYT and will give it a go tonight :D
