Nearly Departed Well, I haven't put up a new update yet, but there's a website for the game I'm making with LASSIE, Nearly Departed:
www.johngreenart.com/nearlydeparted
I've been putting all the effort I can spare toward the game itself, but hopefully I'll get around to putting up some animated GIFs of the character and whatnot.
EDIT: I meant to put this in the "In Production" section of the forum.

nice! John, i had seen your work in the lassie site. I loved the style, great. If you could upload some more images and some animation it would be great.

I just put up a couple more screenshots and some character animation. Not much, but there will be more updates as production continues.

It really looks fine!!
But please don't show too much - i mean - of course i want to see it. But i guess it's better if I turn around corners or follow paths in the adventure game and I don't have a clue what comes next :)
My game is very short - that makes it even more dangerous to show too much beforehand. Ask Greg. He was tempted by me. And he almost saw too much

cool looking game m8....
great looking character and backgrounds... hows it going?
JohnGreenArt- 01-07-2006
It's going pretty well. Things have been slow as I've pretty much been on vacation. But I've got the first 4 rooms almost completely done (minus some sounds) and the line art for the 5th and 6th rooms done (need to color them, which is the most time consuming part for me.)

The announcment that Pinhead Games will be distributing Nearly Departed has been made in their la-*test*-('") newsletter. You can also see the game listed on their site here:

Hey congratulations John! I went and viewed the Pinhead games site and am pleased to see they sponsor specifically flash games. I am assumming it wont make a difference that you are using Lassie for them to publish the game will it?
NigeC- 01-17-2006
well done
they do some good games, the nick bounty ones are very entertaining

I don't want to steal John's thunder, but I just updated the Lassie website so I should probably deliver the news...
a NEARLY DEPARTED playable DEMO has been RELEASED.
It has been posted in the Games section on the main Lassie website. His only request was to keep discussion of the demo to a minimum outside of the Lassie forums. This is a pre-release to the upcoming full-talkie demo going out through Pinhead Games, so major publicity at this time would still be premature. Enjoy!

AWESOME!
great demo john :D

Great demo. The animation and illustration are spot on. Look forward to its release.
Regards
Mark

How long would you all estimate it took you to finish the demo?
Just curious.
NigeC- 02-14-2006
it took me 2 attempts to finish it, well over an hour easily, very good puzzles m8
one thing.. our pc (XP pro, 1.00ghz, 320meg ram, some crappy ATI vid card) suffered badly when the char was at his biggest size, making him walked very slow.. when he's 3/4 to the smallest he runs fine... but thats down to our pc not the game
JohnGreenArt- 02-14-2006
Yeah, I figure some people might get a lot of slow down. I think it really needs at least 1.4 ghz to run smoothly.
Hopefully it might speed up when converted to LassieAS.
