Looking for character animation templates
is there any tutorials for creating cartoon walk cycles? many years ago i created a comic series of a group of mates of mine who are heavily into the VW scene (campers, bugs, beetles) and would love to at some point use them in a game, i had plans to do it with AGS about 4 years ago, even had a story but it never came together..i can draw static toons no problem but have difficulty with diffrent view angles and walking.. hence why i use 3D characters :? or if anyone wants to give me hand to bring em to life even better! theres no panic as i have a few jobs to finish first i'll redraw them next week as they are all on paper and to dog eared to scan

You could always create a walk cycle in poser, then export that cycle at different angles into Quicktime format, or other formats, and then export each frame in the cycle (a walk cycle is typically 8 frames at 12 frames per second, but it also depends on the kind of walk) then, to make them more cartoony or 2D, print each one out on a piece of paper and trace your cartoon character over them. Scan them back into computer, and animate them, and there you go.

thanks for that John I'm going to try and get the cartoons i drew for each of the guys with their vehicles and try and recreate them (its 10 yrs since i drew them consistanly :? ) one of my main influenence with my drawing style was Paul Sample who did the Ogri series in the UK http://www.ogri.co.uk/ i doubt i'll get much computer time next week so watch this space and i hope you guys like it :lol:

i got kick off the PC earlier so i had a quick go at recreating them, its been 10 yrs since i last drew them or drawn anything on paper to be honest so here we have Dowie, the 2 Waynes and Glen.. theres another 2 but i couldn't get em anywhere near right :? now all i need to do is get them in color and perfected them again i'm open to comments and suggestions on ways to make them better, easier to draw(even if its "their crap and don't give up your day job")
