life, the universe and everything,....or destroy everything Here’s one for the diary. On November 13, physicists will press the GO button on the $6 billion Large Hadron Collider under the suburbs of Geneva, recreating the conditions that were present less than a billionth of a second after the Big Bang. In the process, it promises to uncover the origin of mass (“what makes stuff stuff”) and it might even lead to a theory of everything.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that there is an outside chance – something in the region of 50 million to one – that it will create a Black Hole that drags gravity and everything with it into an extra, unseen dimension.
So you might want to keep the day free. or get ready to kiss ur a** goodbye

LOL.
I saw the most ultra cheesey trailer for a movie based on something like that. They'd made a Black Hole that was eating up L.A. or some other movie town. With Judd Nelson running around shouting, "YOU CAN'T STOP IT! WE'RE ALL DOOMED!"
Nice... nice...
I caught the second half of a documentary that was on about all this too. You see it? Interesting stuff. The Deep Space images were very cool.

Ha... that reminds me of a Peter Jennings news broadcast a few years back (when Peter was still with us). Delivered as ONLY Peter Jennings could, he reported something along the lines of...
"And scientists today discovered a meteor which they say may pose a threat of hitting Earth, destroying our ecology and forever changing life. Given its present speed and trajectory, scientists anticipate it entering our galaxy in roughly eighteen-THOUSAND years............. Don't say that you weren't warned."
Meanwhile, his expression said it all: "and WHY am I reporting this?"
