Nope. Only an .x32 component which is PC. I admit that I have not fully explored one option, Buddy API, which says on its website that one of its screen res command is cross-platform. However, the goals of the Lassie project have shifted and I'm working on phasing out the Director player, so I'm not all that interested in Xtras anymore. The current Lassie version will remain available, but no further development will be made to it. In truth, Director has proved to be more trouble than it is worth, particularily since Flash 8 just introduced a bitmap API which is one of the few things left that Director had over Flash. Now Director's only unique features are 3D (which I'm not getting into) and FileIO (which I am finding ways around within Flash). Plus considering Macromedia just got bought out and Director is loosing ground, you have to wonder how long Adobe is going to maintain the product line...

That would be cool. Sort of like the green screen and chromakey that the motion capture and special effects folks do. I am sure there is already some software out there that will do it.

LASSIE will not preform as an projector anymore? thats sucks.. I meant do create my game in director all along ... we can still develop the open source files but you will not give us the newer versions? I know the profit of using flash but I dont want that my game will be an browser game. Lets see where does LASSIE-AS is going to be, I will check the features and maybe I will use it but I am not sure. Anyway, did you take a look at my update(for hebrew developers)?

bigmac- 01-12-2006

No, no, no. You will always be able to use the current version of Lassie in the future, just the same as now. All that means is that no new updates/game features will be developed for the Director player. New developments are being persued within the flash environment, given it's power, accessability, and lower stress level to me, the developer, who is finally not going nuts from constand "Director player errors" over every little exception that the program throws. Given that I have no further plans for the Director player, I am considering releasing it as full open source so others who wish to persue further development may.

Question: Director supports .swf os if I will create the game with LASSIE-AS could I import the .swf into Director and use the Director player to show the flash based game? If you will release current director ver. as open source (with the player file .dir) I will change the fonts so the player will support Hebrew. another thing, if I will eventually use LASSIE-AS, it would support other languages such as Hebrew? How does the LASSIE-AS will work? I have so many questions....

How's this for a feature of a future realease. The ability to remove blue/green from video files. This would allow mpeg actors to play characters in a game. Or is that already possible in one way or another? Heeeey.... Now that's a cool idea. And, that is nothing outside of what Lassie already does. That is an entirely graphical process in managing your media... and the good news is that Flash 8 now supports alpha channels in video. So yes, you could shoot on green screen, key out the background in something like After Effects or FinalCut, then use the keyed video within flash as character animations.

another thing, if I will eventually use LASSIE-AS, it would support other languages such as Hebrew? How does the LASSIE-AS will work? Don't panic. All these consideration have been taken into account and are among the many reasons for the migration to Flash. Language support will be MUCH easier in the flash version becasue literally *everything* is external media that the developer has control over. This includes all text fields for dialogue, rollovers, conversations, etc... Developers will be able to choose their own typefaces, set text sizes, etc. No longer will these assets be locked inside a compiled application where they cannot be changed and customized.

Ok I am calm now... But what with the first question that I asked: Question: Director supports .swf os if I will create the game with LASSIE-AS could I import the .swf into Director and use the Director player to show the flash based game?
