animated water and fountain in my turning room thingy (warning 3.5meg!)
the water looks a bit screwy near the dock.. it would need a layer to hide this
right... i'm gonna stop dicking about and do the bloody game :roll:
Nice Nige.... I like how the drop effect only affects the ground. Although.... it makes it look like you have a drainage problem, and the ground is all a big puddle.

Looking good, its the little details that make all the difference isnt it?

@SeanCyrusTowel
Yes it does make it look like a drainage problem :lol:
I can make the ripples a lot smaller, but i wasn't sure if it would run smoothly
If you watch Sin City, they do something very similar, but the camera is looking down so it doesn't look out of place
Anyway the game is about ready to go full swing :wink:

So is the rain effect rendered into that animation, or is that an overlay animation ontop of a static plate? The puddle ripples are using an on-the-fly bitmap render within Flash are they?

I used a free program called Sqirlz Water Reflections
http://www.xiberpix.net/SqirlzReflect.htmlSqirlz Water Reflections is a way of adding rippling pools of water, and rain or snow effects, to images or existing AVI videos.
The pools can be animated to give lifelike rippling reflections of the scene above them, and can be of any shape.
Choose from a variety of ripple shapes, and control details such as wave size, perspective, water transparency and flow direction.
The raindrops and snow flakes can be adjusted in many ways, including size, speed, direction, transparency and scene depth effects.
Animations can be saved as Macromedia Flash (SWF) files, animated GIF files, AVI video clips, and sets of bitmap, JPEG, PNG and TIFF files.

Wow... aside from the fact that their website is titled with Comic Sans font and looks vintage 1990, the app its self sounds pretty cool.

Anyway the game is about ready to go full swing :wink:
Sounds optimistic! :) Great
