Lassie AS
Anyone know how to change the resolution of the game in Lassie AS? I did it in the original Lassie but can't seem to find the option in this one. Great Job by the way Greg, it's a big improvement over the older version.

The new LassieAS doesn't have the resolution option added yet. It's still under construction.

Oh right, thanks, yeah just seen in the documentation that 640x480 is the current resolution used. I exported the project to action script but not sure how to 'plug it into flash.' I can load it into flash but since it's just a bunch text I'm really not sure how to take it further. Any suggestions?

After exporting the data from LassieAS, open the data.fla file. Choose "publish" and it will save the data so that you can play it. The load the lassie swf file. It's all in the text documents.

Cheers John. Will try it out.

Hi
Ok so I tried publishing the data.fla after exporting the Lassie AS project but the data.swf is only 1K and their seems to be nothing but white. I must be missing something out. I definitely have background imagesSorry, I don't like to bother people with such obvious questions but it's very frustrating. Especially when you happen to be working on such a great game (that's right, It'll blow the world away).

OK, it doesn't sound like you've done anything wrong, but I'll walk you through it. The data.swf file that you made doesn't contain any of your art or resources. It only contains action script commands, so it should only be 4k at most. After you've exported the game from LassieAS, and after you opened the _data.fla file from the _system folder, and after you hit publish and it made the data.swf file, THEN you do this: Just below the LassieAS Editor file should be an .htm file and a .swf file (probably named lassieas or lassieas_640). Open either of those. Those files will load in your data.swf file as well as all your resources as it's needed. If you made your game right, it should play. LassieAS doesn't save everything into one file the way Legacy LASSIE did.

Hi, OK so I opened the .htm and .swf files and the loading bar just keeps going and going. I tried copying it into the system folder where the data.fla is and the bar doesn't start on the loasing screen. I just wanted to preview my progress so all I have is a bunch of rooms with background images and 2 connecting rooms. When I publish the data.fla I get this messege: **Error** C:\Documents and Settings\Mark McGough\My Documents\LassieAS_win_v05a\library\_system\_data.as: Line 9: Operator '=' must be followed by an operand new_char: {title:"new_char", image:"", speech:0xFFFFFF, regPt:{x:0, y:0}, loc:#none, room:"#none", view:4, inv:0, dia:0} Total ActionScript Errors: 1 Reported Errors: 1

JohnGreenArt- 02-20-2006

OK, well, you don't need to place the .htm or .swf files into the system folder. I'm not sure what the error from publishing the data.fla means, so we'll have to see what Greg says about it.

if you want send me your AS file and i'll publish it.. one thing.. have you done the project totally with LASSIEas? if you've used a legacy project file the Tim's is different and you will get errors nigeuk62@hotmail.com

Just realised the file is 58MB. Perhaps that's the reason why it won't work. I going to optimise it & I'll let you know if it works.

Mark- 02-20-2006

Hey Paranoia, Just emailed it. It's under 3 MB this time.

lord_noodle- 02-28-2006

I don't get it... LassieAS makes .as files not .fla... what should I do ? I have the same problem

JohnGreenArt- 02-28-2006

After making the data.as file you load the data.fla file that's in the systems folder into Flash. Hit "publish" and that will make the data.swf file. It will be small because LassieAS doesn't compile all your game assets into one file. The lassie_640.swf or .html file will load the data.swf, and it will then load the game assets from whatever folder you pointed them to when you made the game.

How can I publish a text file?(.as) I didnt find any data.fla here.
