international countdown
Greg might be able to help out here.... I trying to find a way to make some sort of count down system or date/time that will take into account of different time zones. i do a spot of online racing with the MotoGP 3 game and on weekends theres full meeting between various teams from all around the world but BST and GMT is causing chaos  so people where either to early or to late lol If i remember right WMYT had some sort of countdown?

Nige, we're talking Flash here? If so, this is pretty straight forward since Flash would run the countdown based on the user's system clock (which should be calibrated to their timezone with daylight savings time taken into account). So, just define the countdown end time in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time; the global time standard), and you're set. OH! WMYT countdown on the Lassie site. Right, I follow. I was trying to picture a game scenario that used a countdown, though the most I was coming up with was the grandfather clock that Matt tied in to the user's system clock. Yeah that countdown that was on the Lassie site was just a simple little thing. I might have written that myself, but i know the first time I ever made a countdown I had downloaded a sample script. There are plenty of them out there... 15 seconds of Google searching later: http://www.brandspankingnew.net/archive/2005/06/flashactionscri.html

Theres guys racing from all over, Italy, Oz, South Africa, UK and the USA, so every one is in a different timezone, the poor guy from oz was an hour early and it was 6 am in the morning for him lol But its BST, British summer time which causes the problems, so i thought if i could rig up some sort of countdown it may help Would be server time be better.. altho mines in the USA i think.. well it was  Anyway, I'll have a look at that countdown.. at the moment it wont work online lol, maybe IE7 is being a d*ck again
