HTML 5
Really interesting stuff for those of us living in the web world: The specs of HTML 5 are finally being released. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/web/library/x-html5/index.html?ca=drs- This is a pretty major event, given that the HTML markup standards haven't changed in nearly a decade since HTML 4 was made the de-facto standard in 1999. It's also pretty slick in that they aren't doing a complete overhaul that will force people to re-learn the language from scratch. They're simply improving upon what already works well about the system by adding some new smarter and more searchable tags.
