How Soon? How Soon can we expect a new version of Lassie? I ask this because I'm very close to starting a project and need to know weather i should wait for the la-*test*-('") update or just push on ahead with what is out there now.
Specifically I'm looking for Full-Talkie sound support, something like what director has.
I know I'm asking alot for an ETA, but it would really help me out right now.

If you want full talkie capabilities I'd recommend just using Lassie Director. I know it sounds weird to hear me promote that old derilect piece of technology over LassieAS, but the simple truth is that its better suited for the job. Lassie Director had a really good, stable sound engine developed for it... far better than anything that I ever implemented (or have planned) for LassieAS. The simple truth of the matter is that Flash, for all it's superiority and coolness, still has some short comings over the beautiful simplicity (ie: primitive nature) of Director.
As far as future Lassie developments are concerned, don't be led on. Yes, I'm working on something. Yes, it's rock star cool (or at least I think so). However, it's still undecided as to how accessible new developments will be to a general audience... ie: how much is WYSIWYG versus how much of a code beast do you have to be to use it. There are still a lot of question marks there, and to that end, there's still been no official announcement. So, despite my ramblings in other threads, no new Lassie releases are on the horizon.

Alright thanks, that about covers things.
I'll get started right away... Expect a game made by me around 2040

then your game will probably be released about two days before the next Lassie version ;-)

you can get sound to work in AS, 2D Assassin has gun shot effects that where easy to do, Handyman Wanted at a few effects too, a talkie is harder but still possible
i just embedded the sounds in a 2 frame 10x10 movie, the first frame blank the second held the sound
background music you can embed in the background.swf but i found it worked better as a separate movie
the director version is a lot better if you want to turn a game around quickly with less hassle, but if your prepared to turn more to what Action Script and Flash can do the possibilities are endless with the current version of AS
I'm working on a PDF version on the tutorial and I'll add a sound section and a few other tricks I've learnt
