Hi from Argentina
Hi, i am from Santa Fe, Argentina and with a group of friends we want to create a adventure using this engine. But, i have a few questions: - Can I write dialogues using accent mark (like "está, avión"), because when i create this tipe of string, the letter with the accent dissapair ("est, avin"). Is possible that this engine accept the accent marks? - Second, i want to create a first person adventure, can explain me a little more easy how i do it, because i am a beginner in this tool. Sorry my bad english, but my natal lenguaje is spanish :P. And thanks for create this engine =).

Yes you can do first person.. the easy way is to make a 10 x10 blank swf as your character and place it where you want dialog to appear, then set all your points to the same spot http://www.nigecstudios.co.uk/index.php?pid=3 was my first attempt at first person.. You can't do away with the verb disc which is a bit of a pain if you want to do a Myst style game Really not sure about the font.. have you tried changing the font style in the "_system" folder, font.fla? You can use item cursors to give extra direction cursors if need be welcome to the forums :)

i did turning rooms like in Nancy Drew games using a combination of a flash timeline movie and TIMes, I used inventory cursors to get cursors over hotspots, the only thing i never managed to figure out was a way to items from inventory without the need of the verb disc if your interested here's the flash FLA for the "room" http://www.nigecstudios.co.uk/games/hawkmanor/room5.zip If you want to use the idea feel free, just give me credit for the template the game that was out of is here.. it takes ages to load online as it has rain effects http://www.nigecstudios.co.uk/games/hawkmanor/

Honestly, i don't understand very well action script =P. I will try to know more about this. I have another question: Is possible that the game online charge the entire game, not room by room. I hope that you understand this.

NigeC- 09-16-2008

You could do an entire game as a single room.. in away thats what the turnig room does and the Action script is very basic, its just a bunch of invisible buttons advancing frames on a timeline you would have to do the actual areas in flash, you'd end up with to many sprites in Lassie that would get to confusing i did a tutorial for Lassie here: http://www.nigecstudios.co.uk/tutorial/Lassie_AS_Tutorial.pdf

escudero: Welcome! I'm always happy to see Argentinians around here... Argentina is still one of my favorite countries that I've visited! Good luck with your project and keep us posted. Nige, thanks for helping him out. I really appreciate it! I've been living under a rock programming the National Public Radio (NPR) interactive Flash maps that will be used to cover our upcoming election. There are one of the most data-heavy and cumbersome interactives that I've ever done, and I haven't been focusing on a whole lot else. So, you're support to our new members it really appreciated!
