hello, and question about dialog
Hello! I'm new here and I'm happy to see someone already programed a flash based point click editor. I started work on my own when i discovered yours, thank you, this will let me just jump into doing the fun part of designing and making the game. (not that programing isn't great fun.... just less fun) one question about LassieAS. I noticed that in this engine in game conversations are limited to, talk to person, then the default conversation, instead of a list of things you can choose to say to, or in response to a conversation you are havening with an npc, as in how conversations work in 'sam and max' or 'monkey island'. if this option is not already available i plan to program it in ... one i figure out the best way to do so TIMe's, or actionscript embedded swf? if there is a way already to do this please let me know, if not, any suggestion to how to go about programing it in will be greatly appreciated. the game i plan to make is still in the conception stages, but i will post about the game i plan to make as soon as i figure it out myself  thanks again for the cool point click engine. p.s. nearly departed is looking awesome.

You can do full conversations with dialog choices in Lassie already. From the main menu go to CONFIG, and from the next menu go to ANIMATIONS. Conversations are at the top of the window. Most of this info should be in the documentation. Anyone know where they are online?

thank you
cool, thanks for the help, with that figured out i have just one other question before i get started. I love the fact that we can use flash to create mini games inside of the game, but is there a way to get or store a variable from said mini game file. for example, the player goes to a door, and has to play a mini game to unlock the door. now, if the mini game is beaten then variable (door = open) if not (door = closed). then in the game after you leave the mini game have it that if door = open, then instead of the players character saying 'door is locked senior' the door will open. like i said, i really like the idea of mini games to add verity to the point click, combine this with that, game play. however i would like to use them as part of completing a goal instead of just being there for novelty. what i described might not be the best solution, is it possible to call TIMe's from a swf file, or is there a better solution to have a swf effect the game / game objects attributes? thanks again people who are smarter than me . :D

There are commands for variables in Lassie, but they currently don't seem to work properly. However, there's a better way to do what you want anyway, with Sprite Phases. The sprite for the door would start at phase one, where the played gets a "locked" response. When they beat the minigame, a TIMe command can chnage the door sprite to phase two, which will give the player an "open" response. No need for variables. You can call TIMe's from a swf file, but I haven't done it much so someone else in the forum might want to chime in on that one.

ay yes... the sea
thanks again for the quick response. the ability to call TIMe's from a swf frame shall give me super powers. I did some more searches in the forum and found an old thread about the subject of using TIMe's in a swf. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=541&highlight=using+timies+swf" target="_blank">http://lassie.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=541&highlight=using+timies+swf thanks again, ZOOM!

In a movie you can make it open a door else where.. look here: This -*test*-('") demo uses a combination of TIMes calling sprites events from within movies and Lassie manipulating the room movie http://www.nigecstudios.co.uk/games/hm/ the first scene uses flash buttons to turn the "room" from the left and right sides, it also switches on the sprite on the car door.. the hotspot to change rooms, also manipulating which view to show as you enter a room.. As you get to the house theres an alarm keypad which is a flash movie which allows the key to be used on the door once the key is used This is a rough -*test*-('")! it was to get the controls, Lassie sprites switching on and off and the keypad working.. the images are just place holders  If you want to see the source to how it was done give me a shout
