Harry Potter and the Point of No Return Hey guys, I'm down to the last third of Harry Potter 7 and am trying to decide how that fits into my week without keeping me up until 4am some night. As we all know, you just need to read straight through the final X pages of Potter books. So in the case of #7, what is page X?
Of course, I'd appreciate ONLY getting a rough page number or chapter number... NOT an event summary as in "yeah, it get really good at the part where Harry and Voldemort engage in an epic dance off with Snape as the referee"... outside of a game of quiddich, nobody likes a snitch.
Thanks!

Potter Finale In my opinion, once you've cracked open that sucker...there's no going back. That said, Chapter 29 on is pretty much an extended climax so you should probably stop reading before then.

I agree with you Tucker.... I just IMed Greg at the end of his day, and said no further than chap. 29.... he's on 28.... I said he can read that chapter, read the first paragraph of 29 and sleep somewhat soundly.... anything past there, is non-stop time.

I haven't read it or any of em for that matter  but going by the "oooooooh" "arrrrrrrr" "nooooooooooooooo" from our lass, it must be good
I know I'm a tad late but chp 29 was a good place for sleep i was told lol

Cool, Nige, thanks. I do already have a friend "over the pond" but she's from this side of it, so I'll add you as well ;-)

I thought it mediocre. I thought it showcased a lot of JK's shortcomings as a creative writer that were downplayed before behind the fact that she was writing "children's stories". As she started writing more and more for adults, I was less and less impressed; and this book includes some of her worst narration yet.
I guess it also didn't help that Wes and I had guessed the ending, so I can't say that I was all that surprised by anything that happened. It ended up taking me over a week to read through the last 100 pages.

the same can be said about the movies, the loss of Richard Harris as Dumbledore, i can't warm to the new guy at all! Hogwart's is different in every movie.. having not read the books, Goblet of fire came across very fragmented
I do enjoy the movies, but after the first 2 they kinda lost the charm, wit and nice touches

Be leery of the 5th movie then... while it was an incredibly good representation of the book, it would be tough to appreciate without having read it. The book was something like 1000 pages, and to compress that down into a two hour movie made the bulk of the movie just solid character dialogue. You watch about an hour and forty-five minutes of talking heads telling stories (that you may or may not understand if you haven't read the book), then get about 15 minutes worth of stuff blowing up.
