Haha depends, is it an Oirish accent u need or a Norn Irish one?

Call me oblivious, but I can't say that my untrained foreign ear would know the difference... ya'll don't talk like the Pikies from "Snatch" do you? :P

Haha see thats the funny thing about over here, northern ireland especially... I can pretty much tell where somebody is from by their accent to within about 20miles... each town pretty much has its own dialect, even if its only 10 miles from the next town! The pikies in snatch had a VERY strong cork or wicklow accent I would say, I had trouble understanding them (plus d fact that it was being 'put on' didnt help... think that was the point tho :) ). I probably have a similar accent to the actor James Nesbitt from Cold Feet, went to the same school as he did.

I'm from northern England and our accents do the same thing.. 20 miles up the road you have durham which is a watered down version of Georgie.. 15 miles up from Durham is true Geordieland I live 2 miles off the yorkshire border so kinda have a mix of weak Geordie, cleveland and yorkshire :? My sister's EX came from Ulster and could i hell understand him when he first came over lol he talked so fast I'll drop a pm m8.. its all kinda hush hush ;)

while here in the US, it's not quite that close... but it is certainly obvious when someone is from outta town.... and if it's a big metropolis their from, it's obvious which one most of the time.... Not knowing the place well though (I think this is a matter for John) I think it's like that in New York City (not western New York where I'm from, some 350 miles from that city) I think they can tell who is from which area near by.
