*getting angry* WHY CANT I DRAW!
I'm getting rather annoyed here... I really want to make a game, but i dont want to limit myself to existing graphics... Therefore I must draw my own. (that, or pay somebody else...) Do some people just have that gift? or is it something you can learn, because so far all attempts of mine at drawing ANYTHING have failed. How did all of you start? where you better then stick people the first time? I don't expect to just read a tutorial and then draw grade A graphics or anything, but I need a place to start.

I too suck at drawing.... but I'm not going to let that stop me when I get to making my game.... I made enough for one game that I really liked, so I think It'll end up working.... my suggestion, just give it a shot

Im no great artist, but iv found my drawing skills improve by finding stuff that i like, cartoon etc, and copying them as best i could. By doing this i start to see what tricks the artist has used to make the art look cool. Once you do this with a couple of different styles you tend to get a blend thats 'yours'. But iv still got a long way to go

Its funny, I was about to start re-drawing YOUR character just before I saw this. If I ever get to the point your at, i'm happy. (Even getting past stick-men would be nice)

Well if your gonna copy anyone, take a look at John Green's stuff for Nearly Departed. Also, take a look at www.Penny-Arcade.com , theres tons of comics there in a style i really like

Yeah, I was going to say fatbouy I liked the guy you drew before (but I think I mentioned that in the thread) I should post some of the things I drew for Hitchhikers that I am not going to do now.... I was really impressed with Zaphod and the guide

Also as a tip I picked up from Greg (and John also does this.... I think most computer artists do) Sketch out the picture first, then use Illistrator (or whatever) ontop of a scan (or digital Photo, as I have also seen) of your sketch

Id like to see that Hitchhiker stuff :)

Yeah, I know.... I really want to show it off.... I just always forget to post it when I'm home.... unfortunately I'm working a 16 hour shift tonight and when I get home I probably wont even check the site.... I'll email myself to remind me to post those

OK thats it... I just cant draw, I cant even mimic others. If i'm going to make something with custom graphics, i'll need to do so with somebody else's help.

Graphics Help
I believe there was someone offering his 3D artistic services in the "Seeking Talent" section of the forums. Making a game is such an ambitious undertaking - it makes sense to divide up the workload.

Also keep in mind the beautiful resource for seeking help... "gigs" listings on Craig's List. Just advertise that you're seeking HOBBY artists, not professionals.
