EvolutionSphere - DOA I am starting to storyboard DOA.
The adventure takes place in 2084, in the seedy underworld of Miracle City known as the Sprawl.
Walk in the shoes of the illustrious Atlantic Global Police detective Mitch Greenberg. Solve a murder and bring justice. Start by investigating a crime scene and gathering clues. Follow those clues and try to catch the killer before they strike again...
So what do you think? Is it too done or could it be interesting?
I am hoping I can do an entire series of adventures as detective Greenberg.

Seedy underworld city known as "The Sprawl"? It's got a ring to it. I like it! Looking forward to hearing more details.

Yeah, I think it has potential.... are you planning on doing it in a Noir style detective story? I think that would be cool, having the futuristic and Noir styles..... oh wait.... wasn't that what Blade Runner did?.... M'eh still cool

Yea that was the plan... a noir feel with a futuristic twist. I've always wanted to make a character wearing a fedora :D

I like the sound of it, 'the sprawl' sounds like a place that has a lot of history and legend to it... sounds like it could be a real memorable place :D
As for noir, yeah its been done, but theres always room for it to be done well again! I love noir... sigh...

Yeah, that's why Noir works... because it's a retro feel.... and people dig retro

There is a new game coming out for PS3... called LA Noire.
Its being published by Rockstar games (Grand Theft Auto) is it should be interesting. From what I've seen it is a cira 40s LA detective story. The whole format is classic film noire.
I'll never play it, but will be interesting to see how it is received.

Color or Black and White I am torn between sticking to classic Noire... and going Black&White
or pushing the medium a bit and going for color.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think base it on what impression you want to give. I've yet to play a really good black and white game, and I think its a real shame because theres such possibilities.. if done right it could be used to create an amazing atmosphere to a game, give it a real unique feel. It is harder to make black and white work than colour... but that forces you to think more about your games visuals more (good composition really becomes a must), and so gives you a better game experience at the end of the day. I think anyway. :P

Color adds a lot of life... but if you're a fantastic artist, then there is no reason that black and white couldn't be just as good if not better. I would be cool to play a Frank Miller-esque game with artwork like something out of Sin City.

Or you could even wash out the colors so it looks old, or warn.
