lord_noodle- 07-27-2006

Ok he found a note but nothing happens..

NigeC- 07-27-2006

the note has some numbers on it, a code maybe?

lord_noodle- 07-27-2006

no. it just gets stuck :( he doesnt read the note, he says there is a note but thats it. the regular mosue icon dont come back eather... :(

JohnGreenArt- 07-27-2006

Same thing happened to me, I "read" the note but nothing happened. I was expecting to see the note in my inventory, but no. Also, my mouse did disappear during the game at one point (hitting TAB or going to the main menu brought it back) but I forget if it was at that same moment.

NigeC- 07-27-2006

strange i never had any probs with the cursor disappearing or the game locking up i was playing it full screen on 800x600 could that make a difference?

lord_noodle- 07-27-2006

I dont think so... Lets wait for bigmac!

bigmac- 07-27-2006

Lol... No fear, the answer grape is here. (I wonder if they played those commercials internationally. If not, my first sentance probably sounds extreemly random!) Anyway, no: screen resolution and full screen on/off has nothing to do with game functions (such as the cursor disappearing). All player versions are compiled from the same script classes, so are literally identical (save for their resolution). Full screen is just a simple playback setting. As for the mouse konking out: version 0.7a implemented the first round of disabling cursor display during dialogue and animation playback. The system has not yet been revisited and probably will not be before the v0.8b release. However, that is definately a system that will be under great scrutiny during beta -*test*-('")ing.

I changed the settings to full screen and than it works (!).... I dont know why..... what do i do now? i did put the body and head on the construction boss legs but nothing happens....

Hey guys! Well this is kind of wierd. I didn't even know that the game was published on the Lassie site until now, so that version wasn't supposed to go public just yet. But it's ok. Anyway I see that you have come across one of the main reasons that i did not want it published. One of the glitches in the Lassie engine is when you use a scripted dialog scene with wait() script it bugs out when you mouse click in dialogs. Sort of. =) If you click past the dialog when reading the "manual" you wont get a note. Also the game cursor sometimes disappears as well. And as you mentioned it is easy fixed by entering the menu, but it is still anoying.I have uploaded a new version now where I removed the wait() script and it probably will work better now. This also happens if you click during the robot start up sequence, wich leads us in to the "obscenities". Actually I never thought about it. That it would offend someone or anything like that. Just because it has "cute" characters doesn't need to be a game for kids. Just like Paranoia mentioned I guess it is different acceptance in differnt parts of the world. I don't even know what kind of "obscene" words being used at the moment. But I will check in on it. And if you find more "obscenities" I could remove them. I just don't thougt of it like that. I really don't know what to say. Sorry if I offended anyone. Well as mentioned earlier I have uploaded a new version. Just some minor fixes here and there. Still can't get the ifVariableSkip to work. Thats why sequenses repeat each time the char enters the first room. And the shopbot, and hanging bot still flips in wrong direction. and still some trouble with wait() scripts. I would appreciate any help with these... =)

On the subject of obscenities: I'm not suggesting the game HAS to be for kids. To me, the swear word just seemed out of place. The game is not overtly adult or mature, so there seemed no reason for the robot to say "SH!T". Also, the game does not seem to be going for something like South Park or Happy Tree Friends, where on the outside they seem like kids shows but are in actuality parodies of everything kids shows represent. It's not that I found it offensive, just that it didn't fit the context of the game. Basically, if the robot used MORE obscenities, then it would establish it as part of his character, and then it would be a deliberate choice to have this cutesy little yellow guy befriend a vulgar robot. But as it is, it just didn't seem necessary.

Peter- 07-27-2006

Yeah. Offcourse you are right. Point taken. =) I haven't worked on my characters enough. The intention was that he would get some other personality from that chip, one who wasn't to much"robotic". But as you say I'm not consequent enough, and yes that made it a little unnecessary. I will fix it tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey guys! Well this is kind of wierd. I didn't even know that the game was published on the Lassie site until now, so that version wasn't supposed to go public just yet. But it's ok. Geeze... I'm sorry Peter!! When you sent me all those project links I thought that was a sign to post it. Miscommunication! Would you like me to pull the post?

Darth-Vader- 07-28-2006

The issue Peter describes, is the bug that appears in my game as well. I called it the "clicking bug", as far as I remeber bigmac already said he will fix as soon as possible... :) As for my opinion on the "swearing", I don't really find it offensive when the robot says "Shit"... but as Paranoia already said, it depends on many factors if you feel offended by that or not. As for me, I'm not offended! ;) :)

Peter- 07-28-2006

Geeze... I'm sorry Peter!! When you sent me all those project links I thought that was a sign to post it. Miscommunication! Would you like me to pull the post? As I said in my mail to you. It's no problem, It's OK. It was just miscommunication. But now when it't out its good. Who knows how much longer I would have waited to go public with it otherwise. It's not good to be to perfectionistic at times. So what you did was actually quite good for me. I had my break now from this project, i guess its time to start working on it again. I only would have wanted a proper tread about it on the forum that stated the known issues and stuff. But now that people already played it, it doesn't matter. =) And that "clicking bug" is an evil one for shure. I hope it get's fixed soon. ;)
