this is useful: http://www.gmacwill.com/lassie/files/dir/lassiedir_flash_v1_1.zip it has a character FLA, it was designed for Lassie director but with a few Action script changes it works in Lassie AS in flash create 3 layers, script, labels and animation basicly all you need is a default stand for frame one, typically front right stand pose then the next frames stand1 to 8 1=back 2= right back 3= right 4= right front 5=front if you don't include 6 to 8 (left views) it will flip the character for you and is only nessary to include these if the character has strong shadows if you don't use stand6 to 8 don't include the frames for walk animation use move1 to 8 for walking, again you dont need to use move6 to 8 talk1 to 8 for talk animation additional animation such as reach etc you can use any name i use 12 to 15 frame walk cycles hope that helps theres a tutorial http://pgames.bikelectrix.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Lassie_Tutorial but it hasn't got to char animation

Sorry, musn't of said that right... i have the walking animations and uploaded them into lassie as but i dont know how to change them (so when you click left the character will change to "walkleft" etc. etc.)

NigeC- 03-23-2007

all the character animation goes into a single swf file you then add it into the Lassie-as library then go to "cast" add the char's swf name, start room and start point finally set the character's ground point, delete the default character when you create a new room the character should show up in the room inspector if when you compile the game and he doesn't move, you need to look at the walk area boxes and points, if you add just a point he wont walk unless you click on a sprite, even then he may do strange things Theres no walk commands in TIMes that do general walking about, that is handled by mouse clicks to a point on the walkable area or by clicking on a sprite there is commands to make him move to a given object, point on the screen or location, but thats normally more custom actions if your really stuck i'll gladly look at your character swf or project and see if i can spot a problem

yeah, some stuff, new DS Game, money for a Wii, the usual ;)

bigmac- 03-25-2007

ahhh... just be careful with that Wii controller! You don't want your wrist strap to break and smash your TV should the controller fly out of your hand! Or has the recall fixed that problem? =)

Do i have to have 8 directions?
Do i have to have 8 driections? Because i only wanna do 2

NigeC- 04-01-2007

You can do any number of frames say front and right would be stand5 and stand3 and to walk, move5 and move3... he would flip automatically to face left

JohnGreenArt- 04-01-2007

You can do just two directions in terms of images, but you need to have frames labeled for directions 1 through 5 (ie, up, up-right, right, down-right, and down). The engine will flip the graphic for the left-facing directions. Even though you'd only show the character walking left or right, the game engine doesn't know this, so if the character moves on a up-right path, it will look for a frame labeled "move2". You don't have to do a separate graphic/animation for that frame, you just need to have the frame. So, on frames labeled move1, move2, move3, etc. you can just put the same graphic. Do the same for the standing labeled frames.
