Archaic-Adventure-Game-Book-Replacement Hey all, I wonder if you could help me out.
I have a hard time falling asleep at night, so usually I read for like 2-3 hours (or more like 4-5 if its any good) Lately I'v been out of a book so i'v switched to pulling out the ancient Mac I-Book of mine and downloading old Dos Games.
I just finished with Monkey Island, what other games would you guys recommend? I was thinking of starting the Kings Quest Series, but i'v heard some negative comments on it.
Whats your advice?

Have you played Day of the Tentacle? While the Monkey Island games will always be my favorite, I can't deny that DOTT is probably the single-best "genre" adventure game ever made. It is a sheer slice of genius. The puzzles are mind bending, hysterical, and so unbelievably clever that Tim Schafer must have been popping Smarties to come up with them... and they all make perfect logical sense. You think about them long enough, you can always get the solution without a hint guide (I can't say that about all adventure games).
If you haven't played it, PLAY IT. If for no other reason, DO IT FOR THE MUMMY!!! :D (you'll laugh your ass off)

Yup definately play through the whole Lucasarts back-catalogue... Monkey Island (right up to 3), the Indiana Jones games (iv just discovered them, and I really admire the design of them), ANY of Tim Schafer's games (Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts) are a must, the man's a genius, a HILARIOUS genius... Oh and Sam and Max too.
The Broken Sword games arn't bad... but they didnt really grab me. I liked the quirkiness and skewed logic of the Lucasarts games.

Well, Last night I ended up starting What makes you Tick for the first time... Man seeing Greg in a game was hilarious.
Very good job on that, I see now why it made it into that magazine, very top notch!
Alright everybody here seems to be great fans of LucasArts, I'll start looking at that.
So far, i have played Maniac Mansion, DOTT, and Monkey Island 1-3... I'm thinking of looking for a Indiana Jones game next, any ideas?

Just got through with Indy and the last crusade, fantastic game, the combat was a nice add! if only it wasn't so short.
Maybe I'll start writing mini reviews for each game I play or something...

Please do! If you got a small collection together, I'd be happy to post them as an article on the Lassie website!

Yeah that would be worth doing. It would be interesting to see how games like this would stand up nowadays, now that our expectations are higher. Would we still enjoy Monkey Island as much if we played it for the first time today, without the nostalgia factor? I expect that a lot of the games would stand up fine, since the design principles that went into them will never get old.
