Anyone playing the new Sam and Max from Telltale? Just started playing the first episode (its being released in episodical format, like a TV show) and its the first PROFESSIONAL adventure game made in years that has the old Lucasarts feel... #sigh#

I'm going to have a brief sigh in life-craziness at Christmas. I'll see if I can play it then. So, you say it's good and definitely worth checking out then?

Yeah I think it is, I mean its pretty cheap, fun, and it does seem like a pretty polished game. I mean, if MI4 had been like this, it would have been a far better game. Heck, if MI4 had been point and click and didnt have a giant monkey robot in it, it would have been a far better game...
Have only really played for about half an hour though (and most reviews say its unlikely to take more than 4 hours to complete the episode) but hey, it is funny, the puzzles arn't mind-blowing (but they do have a bit of the randomness of MI2's 'monkey wrench' puzzle) and its made me laugh quite a bit so far... then again i can be whimsical at times.
But I kinda ruined the 1st Sam and Max for myself by playing it with a walkthrough, so I dont have the HUGE expectations and rose-tinted spectacles that some players may have.

Amen!

Once they release the Mac version, I'm all over Sam & Max (they just released the first Bone game for Mac, so I have high hopes Sam & Max will make it there...)

Hey out of interest has anyone else played these games? I've just finished the last episode of the second season tonight, and I havnt laughed so hard at an adventure game in a decade!
I highly recommend the whole second season, its just gotten better and better as the Telltale guys have hit their stride. And because each episode is only a few hours long, you can actually fit it into a busy schedule :D So if you havn't had a look yet, DO!

Since they haven't released it for Mac, I'll be waiting for the Wii version.

ooooooo.... Wii version?
JohnGreenArt- 04-14-2008
Yup. Later this year.

Yeah the first season was good, they started to hit their stride around episode 4. Hopefully they'll bring out Season 2 for wii too though, because it really is hilarious.
That Penny Arcade game is coming out on Mac OS isnt it?

Season 2 is hitting the Wii sometime!
And they even hinted at a yet undefined Wiiware Title!
Other then the free version of "Abe Lincoln must Die!" I really haven't played the new games, I think I will when it hits the Wii.

They've announced a new series called 'Strong Bads Cool Game for Attractive People', based on some web cartoon... I checked out the cartoon and dint really find it that funny to be honest... mayb it just takes a while to get it... anyways I trust the Telltale guys' sense of humour!
bigmac- 04-14-2008
Oh my goodness... you'd never heard of Strong Bad?!? Well yes, he's got quite a following (though admittedly, I must agree that I find his humor to be hit or miss). You just have to be aware of his classic episode that put him on the map... "dragon".

"Trogdor" has now become something of a legend in Internet pop-culture as a result of this cartoon.

LOL... Didn't even have to read the whole post, I know #58is the dragon one... I personally like #57 as well
