Alright Ready to move on
OK I've spent the last week or so familiarizing myself with LASSIE Making some feature--*test*-('") games, comparing AS to DIR (Why must AS have no sound?) and the like. Anyway I feel ready to start a project. Now theres a major problem: What do I make a project about? I personally cant really do very serious plot-lines and character development or any of that nonsense, so a more humorous game would be more my line of thought. I'v been tossing an idea or two around in my head for awhile, but I feel i need to write it out, so I'm going to just think out loud here for a paragraph or two... Please comment/criticize My first Idea: The Legend of Zelda: Cold War Trials I'v had this idea for a looong time, back when I was really into Nintendo stuff (still am, just not as much), it basically goes like this: Link, The Hero of Time, never really had much problems with computers. In fact, he never had much trouble with anything, beat this bad guy, get this item, reapeat and enjoy. No Life-Ruining Errors. But what if that was to change? What if the Master Sword encountered a Run-Time error as it was pulled? out? This game runs through that event. Instead of being sent 7 years into the future, Link is sent thousands, ending in the Earth we know... The year...: 1960 Link must escape the Soviet secret police, stop a presidential assassination, become a hippy, and more in this comical adventure. OK well looking back at that idea now, It does seem a bit kidish (it is zleda after all) and could never be really thourghly published because of well copyright junk, but still it would be nice to do something with an age old idea. My other idea was to make a game like this: Using screenshots from Garrys mod (A Half-Life 2 sandbox mod that lets you do well... everything) create a Half Life Spoof, making fun of characters like the G-man, Gorden Freeman, and the like. I really have no in depth story for this, but its certainly something to think of. And ya, thats about it... I have Time, Talent, Motivation, and some help (a good voice actor among them) but no inspiration right now. Just comment, Poke fun at, Tear Apart or whatever... I need input more then anything ATM.

Well no feedback may as well mean negative feedback in this case. I'll keep on thinking.

Well, I was going to post that you should do something original, ie not based on Zelda or using screenshots from a Half-Life mod...

I wish, my arts skills are somewhat lacking. If I had the ability to create my own characters and environments, I would.

So you're only really interested in the programming aspect? How about teaming up with someone who has a good game concept and can do the art? Im working on a game (very slowly) called At Her Majesty's Pleasure... Its a long way off being at a programming stage but id be happy to be able to leave all the programming in someone elses capable hands!

Cant say I'm not interested, might be a good way to hone my skills before I make something of my own. Tell me a little more about this project.

It has a topic in the 'in production' section of the forum called 'at her majesties pleasure', take a look, iv posted all my general ideas about the game there. However as I said, it wont be ready for programming for a good while yet... still working out a proper storyline and trying to develop a good visual style. But id be happy to have help! Let me know if ur interested
