A couple of questions concerning copyrights... Erm... Im making a game based on the simpsons, Would I be able to do this?
(I dont mean will i be able to make this i mean would all the copyrights be ok etc.)
...and im going to use sprites from "The Simpsons Cartoon Studio" would that be ok too?
I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't bother. It's just not worth it. If you get shut down, you're out a ton of work; and if you don't, you've just produced a work using someone else's ideas... which means you really can't show it off as "your" work.
A bunch of my college peers in design school had built projects based on pop-culture, then couldn't use them in their professional portfolio (no matter how well the pieces turned out). They essentially had nothing to show for their effort... which is kind of a waste if you ask me. So if you're going to invest in something, it might as well be your own idea.
That's my two cents.

Greg is right, even tho i intend to a fan game.. mine will have a purpose if all goes to plan.
You also have to achieve quite a high level to get it to work, you have a huge fan base to please, to be honest i've never found a Simpson game i liked, its very hard to get the humour to work in a game.
whether i make my game depends on the TV company, i have a parody worked out if they say no, I intend to spend a long time on the game, plus theres others involved so the last thing i want is to get shut down, and lose everything
