320x200
is there a chance we'll see a 320x200 res for lassie? (for those old classic lucasarts, sierra etc remakes? :) Karen

Keren has most of the backgrounds done for the AGS version, but thats using 320x200, so obvious to get it into a 640 player EVERYTHING would need resizing, you'll know yourself of the problems this causes.. its just the player that would need the screen size altering isn't it? what i've seen looks fantastic, and it'll really show the doubters in the AGS community

interesting. I've never considered making one. That should (theoretically) be easy...

bigmac- 06-25-2007

Well, I can't think of any reason why this shouldn't work.... http://lassie.gmacwill.com/files/share/lassieas_320.zip

thanks greg, it works like a charm.. all tho the inventory is slightly, well huge! i'll play with the settings and try to get it smaller, it covers the bottom 1/4 of the screen when it pops up at the moment lol

bigmac- 06-26-2007

yeah, that's to be expected... hence the reason that I never published one this small with the game interface model that Lassie has. Remember that you can adjust the dock box model using settings. I know I've published a diagram of that box model before... it's probably in LassieAS documentation or the TIMe dictionary.

wow, thank you so much Greg, this saves us a whole bunch or work! Karen

Hey, are you two working together on this project? Nige is participating enough that he almost seems to be a co-author! I can't wait to see it!

NigeC- 06-30-2007

we have a strange problem! for some reason you can see the inventory items in full screen mode even when the dock is closed :s heres the first few rooms, theres a blank sprite in the first two rooms that will give you the default key and box from inventory, on full screen the box and key display below the dock bottom line the actual dock settings are all original, only the fonts have been altered, the inven.fla has been reduced to 20 pixels which has shrunk the dock but the items display high if you have a wonder about, the rocks in the second room, the pool and a tree in the 5th room have buttons attached, the pool one will make the character switch to her pool animation.. i'm just messing at the moment, downsizing the Lassie assets to suit, Karen has a lot of alterations to do, plus all the background and animation for the AGS version http://www.box.net/shared/l68joyhh0g

Hi there, isn't that just a question of the flash-files measurements? The relations between height and length in fullcreen are different than in normal mode. So it's stretched in height in fullscreen and as usual in flash even things "outside" the movie are displayed. Am I wrong? I guess that's just a side effect of your sierra classic game size.

NigeC- 07-01-2007

i guess the easy way is have the player load in a html document, which makes it fit from the hieght, as long as the gamer doesn't switch to full screen from there it isn't a problem

Matt Kempke- 07-01-2007
True
That's true ... Or, you make a game size that has the monitor relations and put your room BG in that ... then the black edges around your landscape would be different but the size of the landscape would be the same. Maybe you should double or triple the size anyway then the menu and coin wouldn't be that large when you make it bigger. I don't see what the advantage is of using the old size from the game. As long as the pixels don't get blurry and it fits the screen measurements bigger is better - at least a little bigger :) but it looks nice so far! I never played KQ, so I'm not a pro here - but i liked to walk around in there ... i like the water effects :)

NigeC- 07-01-2007

the big problem is most of the background are already made for an AGS game along with all the animation, so to resize everything is virtually impossible.. the animation is stunning, theres also flowing streams, flickering flames etc :D

Matt Kempke- 07-01-2007

But if you keep everything the size as it is and just stretch the black "cinema scope" over and under the image ... know what i mean?

Karens- 07-10-2007

yeah, me and NIge are trying to make a kq of our own, we will be chaning alot of the game,, so it'll be quite different from the original kq4 or the standard ags remake version (we're calling our game kq4 remake plus:), the original game had alot of bad frustrating points and places (like dying in every possible way) the stretched cinemascope thing is something I could live with,,though the zoom in fullscreen will hardly be noticeable and the black borders will be huge I guess, but I don't mind if there is some blurring when it's zoomed up in full screen, that's the look of the old point and click adventures we're trying to copy anyway so:)
